Banbury Bulls suffered a heavy 40-0 defeat at Hinckley in Midlands 2 East.
They trailed 19-0 at the break and never recovered.
Coach Grant Holmes said: "Hinckley played exceptionally well, their ball retention was very good and they kept hammering away at us until they got the points.
"We defended for the best part of 65 minutes without getting our hands on the ball and that takes its toll on you.
"Had we managed to keep the score down to 19-0 as it was with ten minutes to go we could have taken a lot of heart from our defensive performance.
"But those 21 points at the end of the game really hurt us.
"They showed us what can be achieved if you keep hold of the ball.
"There was a short period early in the second half where we managed to gain possession of the ball deep inside their half and points at that stage could have produced a different result.
"However we all too often give away precious possession far too easily."
