SEAN Clare has joined Burton Albion on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old moves to Sky Bet League One's bottom side after making 20 appearances for Oxford United this season.
He joined from Scottish Premiership side Hearts last summer and was initially used as a right back, before being deployed further forward in recent weeks.
U's head coach Karl Robinson said: "We felt (Clare's signing) was a decision we made for all the right reasons.
"Short term it's obviously not worked and I've said that.
"Maybe confidence can have another implication on poor performance.
"You'd openly say he's had the backing from all of us at the club.
"They (Burton) need an attacking midfield player and they've got games against a number of teams in and around us so we thought it was the right decision and financially it worked for us.
"He's not out of the football club, but he's trying to rebuild himself."
United have been linked with former right back Chris Cadden, but Robinson said there were no imminent arrivals.
He said: "We've got a board meeting on Thursday and hopefully we'll have some more answers after that."
More to follow.
