OXFORD United will not be in the Sky Bet League One relegation zone on Christmas Day, thanks to yesterday's results.
The U's had a blank weekend following the postponement of their visit to Bristol Rovers, but climbed a place to 16th thanks to Rochdale's 4-1 home defeat to Gillingham.
Meanwhile, the three sides who could have leapfrogged United all failed to capitalise.
MK Dons lost 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle, Northampton Town were thrashed 4-0 at home by Lincoln City - four days after the U's beat them by the same scoreline - and Swindon Town drew 2-2 with Charlton Athletic to stay in the bottom four.
Shrewsbury Town, currently 21st, can go above the U's if they win at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.
United's current position is the highest since they rose to 12th after the 4-1 victory at Accrington Stanley on September 26.
They are next in action on Boxing Day, when they host AFC Wimbledon.
