Uxbridge 2 (Warner 23, Nicholls 59)
Abingdon Utd 0
Abingdon slipped to another defeat, but it was a much-improved performance followed their 6-1 midweek drubbing at Farnborough.
Abingdon went into the game without centre backs Nathan Woodley and Tom Franklin through suspension, but in the wet conditions, the game was a credit to both sides.
In the first minute, Uxbridge's Wayne Carter sent a long range effort whizzing past a post, while at the other end, James Organ's skidding low cross just evaded the boot of Luke Holden.
Abingdon went behind on 23 minutes.
A quick free-kick was blasted over, but the referee ordered the kick to be retaken as he was not ready, and the second time, a well-worked move gave David Warner time to turn and poke the ball past Abingdon keeper Carl Wilkins.
Quick reactions by Micheas Herbert saved Abingdon going further behind.
A cross from the home side was touched on and going in, when Herbert back-heeled the ball and turned it clear.
As half-time approached, Warner sent in a stinging shot, but Wilkins beat it away.
Abingdon forced a succession of corners as the half drew to a close, but could not make any of them count.
Early in the second period, Holden swept the ball out to Ryan Brooks, whose shot skidded in front of home keeper Rob Bullivant, who scooped it away, then Curtin fired inches over.
Although Abingdon had the slight edge, all their good work was undone when Uxbridge captain Mark Nicholls doubled the lead from the penalty spot.
Lee Tunnell was up-ended, and Nicholls slotted home the spot-kick.
Wilkins blocked another Warner effort, while a minute from time, Abingdon were exposed with a shot from inside the area.
With Wilkins beaten, Michael Alexis was behind the keeper and headed firmly off the line.
Abingdon Utd: Wilkins, Moss, Organ, McCalmon, Alexis, Herbert, Beechers, R Brooks, Holden (Carbon 70), Odhiambo, Curtin. Subs not used: Tricker, M Druce, Cotterill, Mills.
