After playing down their chances before the season started, Wallingford are now slightly more willing to consider their promotion potential.
Last season's BB&O Premier Division champions lie second in Southern Counties North having lost just twice in the league.
And there is no reason to suggest they can't sustain a challenge, at least for the play-offs.
Coach Chris Norrington said: "We always said we would have a look at the situation at Christmas and we are not there yet.
"We are not looking too far ahead, but we know we have a good team and we can't hold them back.
"We may not get this chance again, so we've got to ride this wave and see where it takes us.
"There's a lot of tough games to go, but the lads have shown they are capable.
"They were a bit wary at the beginning of the season, but now they have shown they can compete.
"I always say the away games define you, anyone can win at home.
"If we keep doing it away from home, we will have a chance."
