Carterton slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Newbury Ladies in Southern Region League Division 1.
Newbury went in front on two minutes after their striker smashed home from 14 yards before keeper Becky Elson managed to react.
Newbury played some impressive football with the wind at their backs, and they doubled their lead when a defence-splitting pass led to the visitors' second goal.
With the wind in their favour after the break, Carterton began to fight back.
The pressure began to tell on Newbury, who used some dubious tactics, one foul on Gemma Diamond rightly resulting in a yellow card.
Their pressure paid off eight minutes from time when Sarah Holmes's cross from the left found Emma Proctor, who slotted home.
But despite plenty of late pressure, Newbury held on for the points.
