Launton Spts 5 (Blosson 13, Green 27, 50, Neill 30, Anderson 61)
Headington Amateurs emerged as winners of an extraordinary 11-goal thriller against Launton at Barton Road on Saturday.
The most remarkable fact from the Hellenic Division 1 West match, was that there were no goals in the last half-hour!
Headington got off to a flier when Jason Maciak scored from Nathan Clayton's cross after just two minutes and then made it 2-0 with a sweet volley.
Within a minute, Launton pulled one back when Lee Blossom struck a superb shot into the far top corner.
In the next ten minutes, home goalkeeper Dan Bianchini denied Launton three times. However, he was powerless to stop Dan Green's header as Launton levelled On the half-hour, the visitors were in 3-2 front as Nick Neill netted.
Back came Headington when Clayton converted Jamie Mundy's cross to equalise before then making it 4-3. Five minutes into the second half, Green notched his second to level things, only for Headington to regain the lead again three minutes later, Darren Wichall stroking home a 20-yard free-kick Paul Anderson scored Launton's fifth with a delightful chip.
With another three minutes gone, Headington were back in front, Neil Drewett running on to Matthew Phillips cushioned header and driving low into the bottom corner of the net.
That, surprisingly, was the final goal.
Pewsey Vale 2 (Ritchie 43, Field 56)
Letcombe 1 (Whatley 77)
A Goal either side of half-time condemned Letcombe to defeat. Pewsey opened the scoring when Tom Ritchie scored via the underside of the bar.
They increased their lead early with an unstoppable shot from Mark Field.
The referee then awarded Pewsey a penalty, but the spot-kick hit the bar.
In the second half, Letcombe's Richard Claydon's shot struck a post and rebounded off Iain Whatley into the net.
Easington Spts 3 (Source 12, Johnson 15, 35)
Clanfield 0
Clanfield, missing six regulars, conceded three first-half goals to the leaders.
Gareth Source ran through the defence to open the scoring and Ricky Johnson soon made it 2-0.
After having a strong penalty appeal turned down for a foul on Dean Barker, Clanfield conceded a third goal, scored by Johnson. Clanfield improved in the second half, but the damage had been done.
