Bicester Tn 0

Milton Utd 2 (Johnson 6, D Jones 62)

Milton rose to second spot in the Hellenic Premier Division - their highest position for 16 years - when a goal in each half gave them a comfortable success away to Bicester on Saturday.

While a number of other games fell victims to the weather, Bicester's surface at Oxford Road proved playable and the visitors took full advantage.

Coping better with the slippery conditions, Milton took the lead after six minutes, through Jemel Johnson following good work from the elusive Gavin Jones.

Only the woodwork, which denied Gavin Jones and Dwight Jones, prevented Milton building a 3-0 interval lead.

With Wayne Harbert and Simon Kenny controlling midfield, Dwight Jones got Milton's second goal early in the second half.

Gavin Jones whipped the ball across for his namesake to finish from close in.

Milton were then awarded a penalty, but Dwight Jones's spot-kick seemed to be directed to the top of the telegraph poles to the right of the goal area, rather than the net!

Bicester, with veteran Paul Spittle coming on as a substitute, controlled the last 20 minutes, but home keeper Craig Griffiths twice came to Bicester's rescue with excellent saves.

Harrow Hill 1 (Weyman 61)

Ardley Utd 2 (Prescott 33, Garbutt 80)

Ardley recorded their first league win for more than two months - away to basement club Harrow Hill.

Missing the suspended Adam Hamp and Leon Gordon, Ardley started brightly on a heavy pitch.

Andy Prescott missed a great chance, while Adam Richmond saw his powerful drive saved.

Prescott eventually broke the deadlock when he fired into the roof of the net from just inside the box.

Against the run of play, Harrow Hill levelled on the hour. A mix-up involving Danny Mason and Matt Dixon led to Eddie Weyman netting a simple goal.

Ten minutes from time, Ardley's Tom Smith unleashed a 40-yard pile-driver that the keeper did well to turn around the post.

From the resulting corner Steve Garbutt's wicked delivery found the far corner of the net to nick the victory.

Wantage Tn 1 (Hartley 38)

Shrivenham 1 (Peters 26)

Garry Hartley took his tally to five goals in the last three games to earn Wantage a point in difficult conditions at Alfredian Park.

Both goals came from corners in the first half.

Shrivenham took the lead after Wantage failed clear their lines. Mark Peters nodded the ball past Luke Alford in the Wantage goal, after it had been driven back into the box.

Eleven minutes later, honours were even when the in-form Hartley headed firmly past Daryl Simms in the Shrivenham goal from a precise Tom Austin delivery. In the second half, chances were few as players found close control difficult on a worsening surface.

AFC Wallingford 1 (Weston 88)

Hook Norton 3 (Jackson 6, Moulder 12, 38)

Two goals in the first 12 minutes sent Wallingford tumbling to their third successive defeat on a quagmire surface following torrential rain.

Andy Stidder hit the bar for the visitors as early as the third minute.

Moments later, Peter Lamont cleared off the Wallingford line following a corner, only for the ball to loop to the unmarked Hook defender Chris Jackson, who headed home.

Shortly afterwards, Davies curled in a cross from the right touchline and Pete Moulder beat keeper John Shea to the ball and headed into the unguarded net.

Moulder then started and finished the move that put Hooky 3-0 ahead at the break.

Although without the services of Craig Hambidge, who went off with an injury, the hosts showed more determination, Andrew Stourton going close.

Shortly before the end, they were rewarded when centre forward Shaun Weston scored from just outside the penalty area.
