Swindon Sup'marine 4 (Kear 43, 44, Edenborough 85, Wood 88)

Banbury Utd 3 (Baird 9, 49, Gooderick 84)

Two glaring defensive errors in the last ten minutes led to Banbury losing Saturday's eventful Premier Division clash.

Andy Baird, who moved up from centre back to partner recent signing Nick Gordon up front, scored twice for Banbury before becoming one of two men sent off in a second-half incident.

Banbury took lead in the ninth minute. Gordon forced a corner on the right, and Baird rose to power his header firmly into the back of the net from Lewis Travers's delivery.

Supermarine keeper Tom King rode his luck when stopping Ollie Stanbridge's deflected shot on the line with his backside, without knowing anything about it!

The turning point came in the 29th minute when Banbury's most consistent player, Mark Essex, was injured by a late tackle which went unpunished. He took no further part in the game.

This forced Banbury to drop Wayne Blossom from midfield into the back four, which hit their momentum.

The inevitable equaliser came in the 39th minute as Richard Kear stabbed the ball home from close range.

The same player put Swindon in front a minute later, steering the ball home from a narrow angle.

Four minutes into the second half, Banbury equalised. Travers crossed the ball from the left, and Baird converted the chance at the near post.

In the 57th minute, Marine's Chris Copp was sent off for stamping on Baird, who was also unluckily shown the red card.

With both sides down to ten men, they continued to attack.

The industrious Travers had a shot cleared off the line, before Banbury regained the lead.

Stuart Bridges slipped the ball sideways to Matty Gooderick, who turned his marker before firing into the net. Within sixty seconds, Swindon equalised when Ben Milner lost the ball on the edge of the penalty area to Ashley Edenborough, who curled his shot into the far corner.

Then Bridges was caught in two minds on his own bye-line, and home substitute Sean Wood pinched the ball off him and fired in the winner.
