Darren Patterson has some intriguing selection dilemmas for his first FA Cup game in charge.

Firstly, who replaces the suspended Carl Pettefer in central midfield, and secondly whether to recall Matt Day or Eddie Anaclet at right back or stick with teenager James Clarke.

But the most difficult decision is who plays up front.

He may start with the pair that started at Kidderminster - Matt Green and Yemi Odubade - but both Ashley Barnes, who scored at Aggborough, and Gary Twigg, who scored against Northampton in midweek, are putting pressure on.

Twigg, fit again after his ankle ligaments operation, said: "It's good to get the games under my belt and I was just delighted to play the 80 minutes, and to get on the scoresheet was a bonus.

"Being out so long has been very difficult. I didn't think it was as bad as what it's turned out to be, but I came back against Droyls- den and it got worse.

"I had to get it sorted out with an operation and that's out of the way now and hopefully that's me back to fitness.

"The two lads that came in last week did well, and then we've got Yemi, who will cause anybody problems with his pace.

"Obviously, Robert (Duffy) has been injured and hopefully I can come back and add my bit to the team."

Southend will be without star striker Leon Clarke, who has struck seven goals in 11 games. He is on loan from Sheff Wed and they don't want him cup-tied.
