ALEX Gorrin has been ruled out for up to a month after picking up an injury in Oxford United’s opening game of the season.

The midfielder damaged ankle ligaments and came off an hour into last weekend’s Carabao Cup first round tie against AFC Wimbledon.

Gorrin featured in 31 of United’s 35 Sky Bet League One games last season, but will now be sidelined until October.

Head coach Karl Robinson said: “We’ve had the scan results back and it looks like it will be another three or four weeks.

“It was a terrible tackle from behind when you see it back where he rolled his ankle.

“Typical Alex, he didn’t feel it at the time, it was only when he came off and sat down that his ankle locked up.”

It will see Liam Kelly come into the line-up at Lincoln City this afternoon, in what will be just his second league start for the club.

Sean Clare, who picked up a knock on Tuesday night in the EFL Trophy, trained yesterday but Sam Long starts with Robinson keen to play his fittest side today.

Joel Cooper is among the substitutes after missing the opening two cup games of the campaign while on duty with Northern Ireland.

Fellow new signing Sam Winnall, who joined yesterday, is not yet ready to make the bench.
