Banbury United boss Kieran Sullivan says the Premier Division club will do all they can to keep skipper Andy Baird (pictured, centre) after Oxford City made a bid for the former Wycombe striker.
Baird, who is also wanted by Hinckley United, pledged his future to the Puritans in the summer after resisting a number of offers to move.
"We are desperate to keep him," said Sullivan, whose side travel to Swindon Supermarine tomorrow.
"He has such a massive influence at the club. But we are confident that he will stay put."
Banbury will be without striker Matt Murphy after he suffered an Achilles injury in their home defeat against King's Lynn - their first defeat in eight games.
Stuart Peace, the boss of Division 1 South & West leaders Didcot Town has praised centre back Andy Williams ahead of their home game against Uxbridge.
In the four games he has played since arriving from Brackley, they have conceded only one goal and scored ten.
Peace said: "It just shows how we are getting the right mentality. Andy has made a huge difference on the defence, with his experience and talent, and the players are responding really well.
"Williams and Richard Peirson (fellow centre half) were terrific for us on Tuesday."
Josh Mulvany (ankle) misses out, while Paul Powell (knee) and Ashley Vine (sore throat) are doubts. Andy Parrott returns.
Abingdon United will be without Jamie Brooks (hamstring), Ryan Brooks (wedding) and Ryan Curtin (suspended) for their trip to Slough.
Last week Abingdon beat high-flying Farnborough.
"That result will mean nothing unless we win at Slough," said boss Andy Slater, who has now gone to Australia for five weeks.
No 2 Mark O'Hara will run the side, helped by former Oxford United assistant boss Mark Harrison.
Oxford City have doubts over Alex Stewart (groin) and Steve Davis (hip) for their home game against Andover.
