Joe Roff will play his last ever game of rugby when he captains Oxford University in Thursday's Lehman Brothers Varsity Match.
And the former Australian international has come up with a plan to stop him changing his mind.
Roff said: "An old friend of mine, Brett Robinson another Dark Blue skipper left one of his boots in the changing room at Twickenham after his last match.
"I think I'm going to that as well so I don't try to play again."
He added: "I'm not sure what I am going to do afterwards.
"I'm going to focus on my finals in May and June and I will finally have to join the real world after that."
Roff's career has included 86 caps for Australia and a World Cup winners' medal, but he says there will be no looking back until after the match.
He said: "Now it's all about the processes of playing the game and not the occasion.
"There is plenty of time afterwards to reflect on the game itself.
Roff added: "I just know that this is not a game for favourites. It is a funny beast like that.
"I just hope the rugby gods are kind to us as they have been kind to Cambridge for the last couple of years."
On captaining the side, he said: "It has been one of my most rewarding experiences.
"It is such a short season, but it has been one of the most rewarding."
As captain, Roff had some pretty tough selection calls to make, not least starting with Dan Rosen at hooker ahead of last year's No 2 Winston Cowie.
Rosen, a replacement for the last three years, said: "This year has been slightly different. We both understood that we would have a role to play.
"We've become better friends than last year when we were going for the same spot.
"This year it's all about the team.
"It's always nice to start. It seems a bit more real now.
"I've got another year to go as I'm doing a phd, so hopefully I can start again next time."
