MARCUS McGuane has become Oxford United's fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

The former England youth international midfielder joins on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.

Born in February 1999, he will not count towards the salary cap.

McGuane started out at Arsenal's academy, making two appearances in the Europa League in 2017, before joining Barcelona's B team.

He went on to make an appearance for the first team, in the Catalan Super Cup against Espanyol in March 2018.

Derek Fazackerley: Youth development vital to Oxford United due to salary cap

He was loaned to Telstar, in the Netherlands' second tier, last season, before Forest signed him in February.

McGuane is yet to play for the Sky Bet Championship side's first team and the intention is for him to gain experience at United.

He told the club's website: “I’m buzzing to be with such a great club.

"I have been made to feel very welcome and can't wait to get started.

"The aim is to get regular games and push on from there.

"Training has been hard so far but I’ve really enjoyed it and you can see there are some really good players here.

"The gaffer has been brilliant and I know what is expected when you pull on the yellow shirt so I am determined to make the most of this opportunity.”
