Minnows in the FA Cup this weekend, Oxford United will assume the role of giants when they take on little Tonbridge Angels in the FA Trophy next month.

They were paired with the Kent side in the first round of the Trophy, with the tie taking place at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, December 15.

Tonbridge, who lie 15th in the Ryman League Premier Division, and attract around only 350 for home games, beat Burnham 1-0 at home on Saturday to reach this stage.

On their website, their officials can hardly hide their joy, describing opponents Oxford United as "Non-League giants".

U's secretary and general manager Mick Brown said: "We're just pleased to be at home.

"It would be nice to go a few rounds in the Trophy, and maybe get to Wembley in that as well as the play-off final . . . although we haven't given up on automatic promotion, of course!"

This is the first stage that United enter the Carlsberg FA Trophy.

Last season they were knocked out in the second round, going down 2-1 at Halifax in a replay after struggling past Lewes over two matches in the first round.

Oxford will reduce ticket prices for Tonbridge Angels, and Brown was hoping to speak to his counterpart at the Kent club within the next 24 hours to discuss arrange- ments.

That tie is quite a contrast to this Saturday's much more glamorous FA Cup second-round clash between Blue Square Premier Oxford and Coca-Cola League One promotion contenders Southend United.

Craig Dobson scored twice as Stevenage came from behind to climb to fourth with a 2-1 win against Altrincham last night.

Altrincham took the lead on 14 minutes when Luke Oliver put through his own net.

Dobson levelled with his first after a mistake by Altrincham Gary Scott.

And another Scott blunder in the second half, saw Dobson seal victory.
