Henley Hawks got back to winning ways with a 10-3 victory at Nuneaton in National 2.
With the game not starting until 5.30 because the pitch was used to stage a football match beforehand, conditions were not ideal.
But it took Henley just two minutes to take the lead, Danny Wells slotting over a penalty in front of the posts.
Despite playing some tidy rugby, Hawks struggled to add to their tally.
But then, an intercepted pass by fly-half Mark Meenan saw him sprint 60 metres to touch down under the posts and allow Wells a simple conversion.
The home side were getting increasingly frustrated, and resorted to a long-range drop goal to try and get off the mark.
Henley went into half-time 10-0 ahead and in control.
They conceded an early penalty which reduced the arrears, and although centre Jaymes Chapman was harshly yellow-carded for an enveloping tackle, they easily held on to end their two-game losing sequence.
