OXFORD University defeated London Irish in their final match before the 2007 Varsity Match.
And with team for the December 6 clash announced today, it was the last chance for coach Steve Hill to change his mind on his line-up!
Oxford started well and were rewarded with two early penalties form fly-half Craig McMahon.
On the half-hour mark, the backs and forwards linked well with captain Joe Roff and full-back Chris Mahony to send scrum-half Brendan McKerchar in under the posts.
McMahon added the con- version.
Leading 13-0 at the break, London Irish started the second half in style when full-back Ed Lewis-Pratt streaked in from 40 metres with fly half Ben Stevenson convert- ing.
The home side then added two further penalties from McMahon.
With numerous replacements coming on during the second half, flanker Simon Ackroyd found himself having to fill in on the wing, but this did not stop him from side-stepping his way under the posts for a well taken try, which Roff converted.
On the stroke of full-time, Irish hooker James Clark burrowed over to finish off the scoring.
The Blues now head to Twickenham on Thursday December, 6 - kick off 4.00pm.
