Oxford City took over at the top of Division 1 South & West with a hard-fought victory against battling Bracknell.
Playing up the slope into a strong wind on a sticky pitch, City found it difficult to impose themselves.
But with Mark Avery and Andy Gunn commanding at the back, Bracknell never threatened City's defence.
Five minutes before the break City, for whom made the breakthrough when Jon Gardner finished well after good work from Mark Bell and George Redknap.
In the second half, City kept up their dominance, with Bell and Jermaine McSporran going close to doubling their lead.
At the other end, keeper Steve Smith made a good save.
City sealed victory nine minutes from time when Redknap headed in his third goal in two games after Gardner flicked on Stuart Cattell's cross.
Late on, Darren Pond nearly bagged No 3, but his effort was saved.
