James Clarke said he didn't know what had hit him when he was sent crashing to the ground at Kidderminster on Saturday in the incident which led to Harriers' Jason Constable being dismissed.
The 18-year-old, United's young player of the year last season, was making his debut at right back after defender Patrick Collins picked up an injury in training on Friday.
Clarke had a very accomplished first-team debut, and was involved in a lot of incidents, helping to make United's first goal - netted by Matt Green - and then getting pole-axed by Constable's challenge.
Kidderminster officials were claiming after the match that referee Oli Langford was ready to rescind the red card because video replays had allegedly shown Clarke simply running into the back of Constable.
But Clarke, from Aylesbury, said he knew little about the challenge.
"I didn't know too much about it," he said. "I was jogging back, took a whack on the side, have gone down and found he's been sent off."
Clarke, who has moved into digs in Oxford and lived there for the past year after signing his scholarship, was delighted, though, with his first senior game.
"It was great, coming away to a big team like this," he said.
"It was really good to be part of the team and I was quite happy with my performance and the team's as well."
Asked about his contribution to Green's opening goal, because he had started the move, Clarke modestly passed on the praise to others.
"It's a team game. It was a great ball in from Eddie (Anaclet) and a brilliant strike as well."
