Oxford United manager Darren Patterson has ended the loan spell of Kieron St Aimie.
The striker, signed by former boss Jim Smith on a month's loan from Queens Park Rangers, has failed to impress during his time with the U's.
And after a disappointing performance against Ebbsfleet on Saturday, when St Aimie was substituted at half-time, Patterson has decided enough is enough.
He is now hoping to use the money saved to help sign another player before the weekend.
"Kieron hasn't quite done enough during the matches," Patterson said.
"He's looked quick and lively in training, but had been out of the game for a while before he came here and maybe didn't quite have that match sharpness.
"We need someone for now, someone who will have an impact, and so we had a word after the game on Saturday and we decided that it's best for all concerned if Kieron goes back to QPR and tries to make an impression with their new manager.
"He's a nice lad and it's a shame it didn't work out for him."
