Chinnor crashed out of the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup at the second round stage after a 13-10 defeat at Cheltenham.
Despite making 13 changes from the previous week, Chinnor had plenty of chances to seal the game before losing to a late penalty from James Butler.
With prop Bob Harris and lock Andy Millburn taking the game to the opposition, Chinnor began well, but Cheltenham hit back with two tries in four minutes.
Prop Shaun Gilder and wing Rich Morris scored.
Chinnor produced 20 minutes of pressure, but kept trying to force the pass.
Tries from Adam White and Danny Burns, after Richard Williams' inside pass, levelled proceedings after the break.
Chinnor looked the more likely winners, but naiveté cost them before Butler's final blow.
Injuries saw Banbury concede a walkover at Luctonians in Midlands round two.
Coach Grant Holmes said: "Over the past couple of weeks we have suffered a number of injuries.
"Late on Thursday night and then again on Friday we lost three players, two from the front row.
"We were able to field a starting 15, but did not have any front row replacements.
"We would have had to forfeit the result either way because the rules state you have to have five players capable of playing front row.
"We felt that travelling close to 100 miles for a friendly was not in our best interests.
"The total number of players injured, who have at one time played first team this year, totals 16.
"Hopefully a few of these will return this week."
Harwell lost 41-11 at Cheltenham Civil Service in round four of the EDF Energy Junior Vase.
With two tries in the first 20 minutes, the home side took control early on.
A couple of Dave Beaven penalties kept Harwell in touch, but a third try made it 15-6 at the interval.
The hosts bagged four tries and three conversions before Harwell No 8 Steve Carter ran in a consolation score.
Friendly scorers: Longlevens 3, Witney 36 (tries P Gouldie 2, J Wheater 2, T Muller, C Strutt; cons H Lamb 3); Oxford Harlequins 4th 22 (tries J Bowley, I Tallant, R Telling, R Walley; cons Telling), Gosford All Blacks 2nd 26; Chinnor Oxen 51 (tries T Wright 2, J Durrant 2, J Sellars 2, R Pitman, D Wells, C Dalziel; cons D Wells 3), Grove Vets 36.
