Abingdon Utd 2 (Mills 40, Holden 79)

Andover Tn 0

Teenager John Mills marked his senior debut for Abingdon United by scoring the first goal in their routine Division 1 South & West victory over Andover at Northcourt Road on Saturday.

The game had plenty of good football in the middle of the park, but few chances were created Abingdon started well, and a free-flowing move down the left ended with striker Luke Holden lobbing over the ball.

The visitors pressed hard with home keeper Simon Tricker being called into action to palm away a Joe Harris shot.

In the 35 minute, United's Micheas Herbert headed down from a corner, but saw his effort cleared off the line.

Five minutes before half-time, Mills, 17, charged down a defender's clearance and picked up the loose ball to round the keeper and slot home the opening goal.

In the second half, both teams tried for that important next goal.

Eventually, it was Holden who collected a through ball and drilled home from 15 yards to seal the game with United's second score.
