Oxford City 5 (Bell 22, McSporran 32, Stewart 40, Gunn 65, Gardner 82)

Slough Tn 0

Oxford City maintained their scoring bonanza with a five-goal destruction of struggling Slough in one-sided British Gas Southern League Division 1 West game on Saturday.

That made it nine goals in two games for City, who have actually scored in every match this season, even those they have lost.

Five different players found the net for City, although Alex Stewart made two of them and scored another.

Slough should have taken the lead early on, as Abby Nsubuga found himself with only City goalkeeper Steve Smith to beat. But he miskicked badly and the chance was lost.

Dave Barratt sent in a couple of powerful strikes for the visitors, but the home defence held firm.

City took the lead when Stewart's run was blocked by a defender, but Mark Bell, seizing the loose ball, worked his way through to score.

Ten minutes later, Stewart set up Jermaine McSporran, who coolly flicked his shot over the rapidly advancing keeper Richard Barnard.

Although Slough showed plenty of spirit, they fell further behind five minutes before the break when Stewart glanced a header from Jon Gardner's free kick inside a post.

The second half saw City create numerous chances, with Barnard denying efforts from Stewart and Ikechi Anya, who continually teased the Slough defence after coming on for McSporran.

In the 65th minute, City made it 4-0 when Andy Gunn headed home from Bell's well-taken corner.

Slough were by now a spent force and the best goal of the afternoon saw Gardner send in a swerving shot past Barnard to wrap another comprehensive display.
