Chinnor overpowered Maidenhead 53-6 at Kingsey Road to record the biggest victory of their South West 1 campaign.

With leaders Chinnor specialising in narrow victories and Maidenhead in close-run defeats, many expected this to be a tight encounter.

But with scrum half Owen Gustafson inspiring a performance full of pace, power and precision, Chinnor ran away with it against opponents who lacked any real passion.

The hosts ran in seven tries to do their points difference the power of good and barely put a foot wrong.

Chinnor had the trademark Kingsey Road wind behind them in the first half, which they dominated territorially.

Fly half James Cathcart gave them the lead with an eighth-minute penalty, although Maidenhead full back Warren Abrahams replied in kind after 12.

Chinnor made their pressure count when lock Craig Burrows was driven over after winning a lineout on the right.

Maidenhead's best players looked to be their back three, but they had to do most of their good work far too deep for the away fans' liking.

Wing Stuart Mackay did well to run the ball clear on 21 minutes, but Maidenhead couldn't stop Martyn O'Mahony scampering in for a try on the left, which Cathcart converted.

Cathcart added a second penalty soon afterwards and was on target again after Chinnor's impressive second row Andy Millburn stretched over on 34 minutes.

Wing Pip Seymour just stepped into touch when he looked well set on the right, but the pressure kept coming.

Maidenhead hooker Richie Craig was sin-binned for a deliberate knock-on and Cathcart's penalty made it 28-3 at the break.

Abrahams and Cathcart traded penalties at the beginning of the second half before Chinnor cut loose.

The try of the game came when Gustafson broke fully 50 metres from his own half and delayed his pass perfectly for supporting No 8 Zane Winslade to sprint in.

Cathcart converted, while Chinnor continued to wreak havoc on the visiting scrum.

Another sharp break from Gustafson enabled Cathcart to cruise over for 43-6 after 63 minutes.

Prop Joe Winpenny was stopped just short three minutes later, but Winslade was on hand to dive over.

Support play had been key to Chinnor's performance and landed them try No 7.

Full back Ben Hewitt looked to have held the ball too long, but managed to off-load to O'Mahony, who scored after rolling through Abrahams's tap tackle.

That was the last meaningful action, although Abrahams was called back for a forward pass late on.
