A brilliant break of 21,340 from 17-year-old Chris Webb proved in vain for Masons in a 4-1 defeat against Dolphin in Premier/Section 1, writes PETE EWINS.
Dolphin cruised into a 4-0 lead after victories from Jimmy Robson (8,010), Simon Ellam (4,790), Martin Atkins (7,480) and Dave Barnes (12,180), before Webb prevented the whitewash in spectacular fashion.
Portcullis took over at the top of Section 1 with a 3-2 success against Corner House.
But they did it the hard way after Bob Allsworth (5,120) and Alan Oliver (7,340) gave Corner House a 2-0 cushion.
However, Portcullis fought back well with wins from Paul Barnes (6,360) and Mike Shephard (6,020).
Democrats went down to a 4-1 home defeat against Horse & Harrow.
Billy Hill (6,910) won the opener for Democrats, but Gary Johnson (6,400), Pete Burton (5,020), Ian Moquet (5,220) and Paul Lawson (11,670) wrapped up victory.
Nelson cruised to a 4-1 win at Masons A, while Keith Sheard 9,630 (break 9200), Ray Sturgess (12,910), Pete Ewins (8,460) and Steven Sheard 14,170 (break 10,300) were the winners for Nelson as they won 4-1 at Masons A. Alan Lowe (7580) won Mason's point.
Section 2 pacesetters Berinsfield Club won by the same score at Corner House thanks to wins from Sandra Tebby (2,850), Dave Lyne (3,080), Geoff Mace (5,760) and Eddie Tebby (2,380).
Shelley Arms are second following a 5-0 home victory against Gladiators B. Graham Moon top-scored with 5,230 against Reg Johnson.
In Section 3, runaway leaders Nelson B demolished Temple Bar 5-0 thanks to good wins from Dave Bye 7,240 (break 5,630), Lewis Stratford 5,500 (break 4,210) and Shaun Stratford 13,150 (breaks 3990 and 8710).
