Matt Maudsley believes Oxford Harlequins are finding real consistency for the first time in South West 1.
Quins director of rugby has seen his side win their last four matches, including three in the league.
And having struggled with squad depth in the past, Maudsley is far happier with his current resources.
He said: "We have been the most consistently inconsistent team in South West 1.
"There have been too many ups and downs, but now with these players we can hang around and make a real impact.
"It's about building the squad and we are starting to get there."
One player Maudsley has been talking up since pre-season is fly half/full back Mark Preston, although the Australian only arrived in the country last week.
Preston, who comes from the same Sydney club as Quins centre Beau Wilson, impressed on his debut against St Ives on Saturday.
Maudsley said: "Mark wanted to play overseas. Beau told him how much he enjoyed it over here, "As a result it was quite easy to register him. He will definitely be important for us."
Quins' 72-3 defeat of St Ives offered many positives.
"Tom Johnson is getting better all the time," said Maudsley. "He carries the ball very well.
"That was also the second game in a row where Andy Noyce has shown great intelligence.
"He knows he is coming to the end of his playing days and is giving it a real push.
"We have always had No 8 Paddy Soper going backwards, but the scrum got him on the front foot this time."
