SOPHIE Lloyd overtook Roisin Browne on the finishing straight to claim the tightest of victories at round three at Adderbury.
The White Horse Harrier crossed the line in 26mins 18secs at Bo Peep Farm, after finishing as runner-up to the Cherwell Runners member at the first two rounds of the season.
Browne was four seconds behind, with Oxford Triathlon Club’s Rebecca Duxbury 15 seconds further back in third.
Lloyd’s teammate Jonathan Cornish had a far more straightforward success as he cruised to victory in the men’s race.
His winning time of 31.26 was a full 81 seconds ahead of second-placed Alex Miell-Ingram, of Radley AC.
Simon Byrne, of Swindon Harriers, was third in 33.18 and just pipped Calum Steer, who was the fastest under 20 runner in a time of 33.29.Another impressive performance came from Woodstock Harrier James Bolton, who crossed the line sixth in 33.53 as the fastest V40 – more than two minutes ahead of the next runner in his category.
Radley locked out the podium in the under 15/17 boys’ race, Johnny James beating Benjamin Cumberland by three seconds and Rowan Miell-Ingram next across the line in third.
Olivia Martin and Tilly Westbrook made it a one-two for Abingdon AC in the under 15/17 girls’ event, with Bicester AC’s Anna Jolliffe third.
Oxford City AC’s Julian Laird was the under 13 boys’ winner, with Isabelle Martin of Abingdon the fastest girl, while Radley’s Rory Wilson, Cecilia Huepfl and Haydn Williams won the under 11 titles and under nine race respectively.
