OXFORD United have made their first moves in the January transfer window – and head coach Karl Robinson hopes it is just the start.
Winger Nathan Holland and midfielder Liam Kelly joined on loan for the rest of the season from West Ham and Feyenoord respectively.
The double deal boosts a squad which has been depleted by injuries in recent weeks.
But Robinson is aiming for at least three more arrivals this month and believes they are close to getting the next one over the line.
“I’m expecting one more in this week,” he said.
“This is not us done, nowhere near.
“We’re in the hunt for a right back and a left back, plus a winger/midfield player or maybe one who can play up front as well.
“We’re in the hunt and working hard.”
Both signings are available to make their debuts against Rotherham United this Saturday.
But while Holland arrives match-fit, United may have to be patient with Kelly.
The 24-year-old has made just one league appearance this season after being unable to break into the Dutch giants’ first team.
It does though mean the former Reading star has plenty of hunger to make a point.
He said: “When you’re not playing and another club gives you an opportunity it’s a fresh start.
“This is what Karl and Oxford are giving me.
“I just want to knuckle down and prove to myself that I am still able to do it.
“When you don’t play it messes with your confidence.”
United faced competition for both players, but their position challenging for the Sky Bet League One title was a big attraction.
Holland said: “I’ve been keeping an eye out since there’s been an interest.
“It’s brilliant to come into a winning side and hopefully I can help them push for that promotion.”
