Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith signed off his two-year grand prix experience with the Repsol Honda team with his second top-ten place in the last two 125cc grand prix.
The 16-year-old rider made a great start from the third row of the grid in the Grand Prix of the Community of Valencia, but lacked top speed while battling with the leaders.
Smith, who joins the Polaris World Aprilia team next season, eventually finished eighth to consolidate his tenth place in the World Championship.
The race was won by Spaniard Hector Faubel, while second place from his Aspar Aprilia teammate, Gabor Talmacsi, was enough for him to bring the first grand prix title to Hungary.
Smith, from Forest Hill, said: "I made an awesome start from the third row and was right up with the leaders. "
"But I lacked pace on the straights and was trying to slipstream them. And then the rear end started to slide around on the left side, so I had to settle for ninth.
"That's two top-ten finishes in the last two races. I'd like to thank the team so much for doing such a fantastic job for me in the last two years."
