Rover Oxford Ladies enjoyed a hugely satisfying weekend in the National North Division of the Slazenger English League as they picked up six points through beating Belper 3-2 at home on Saturday, and Sheffield 1-0 on Sunday.

Rover started the Belper game with Lyn Cockshott converting a short corner in the sixth minute.

However, the visitors levelled by the ninth minute.

Rover dominated play and Cockshott put them ahead in the first minute of the second half.

Tacita Haines then scored a brilliant deflection goal to make it 3-1.

Belper began to play their best hockey of the game and clawed back a goal to put them in touching distance.

Although the last ten minutes were somewhat scrappy, Rover held on to their three points.

Against Sheffield, the score remained 0-0 at half-time although after five short s=8.1corners, Rover really should have been ahead.

In the 59th minute, Tacita Haines broke the deadlock with a great individaul effort. Her reverse-stick shot was too fast for the defenders and misled the Sheffield keeper.
