Ted Bennett struck in a 1-1 draw at University of Birmingham in the England Hockey Men’s Tier 1 Championship.
But the students emerged victorious from the spot, winning 4-2.
Jemima Gibbs scored twice for Oxford in their Tier 2 tie at Clifton Robinsons 3rd.
It put the young side in charge, but they were pegged back despite good saves from Caitlin Fern.
After finishing level at 2-2, an epic shoot-out followed which the home side eventually won on sudden death 12-11.
