Paul Robinson (-50), who lost only once last season, was defeated in the opening game by Ian Gee (+50) 200-146.
Alan King (+40) then saw off Norman Woodcock (+70) 200-136 to give New Club an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Bob Chivers (-30) averted the whitewash, edging out Dave White (+80) 200-187.
Ashton saw off Headington Con A 2-1 in a close-fought affair.
Ashton's Terry Chambers (-10) had a nail-biting finish against John Williams (+70), winning 200-199 to secure the match.
Earlier, Ghassan Al-Murani (+100) had beaten Pete Fenn (+50) to give Headington the lead, before Keith Maskens (+50) levelled by defeating Paul Caria (+100) 150-123.
Cowley Con A came from behind to win 2-1 at Riley.
Malcolm Bough (+70) put Riley in front with a 150-130 victory over Arthur Coakley (+90).
Dick Hashman (-10) defeated Allan Copelin (+90) 200-163, making breaks of 38, 28 and 27.
Keith Pearce (+60) secured victory for Cowley with victory against Gary Bough (+70).
Morris Motors saw off Thame 2-1.
Roger Tomlin (+50) crushed Tom Fletcher (+80) 150-89 to put Motors in front, then Doug Baker (+70) made it 2-0 with a 150-120 victory over Peter Hawkes (+125).
Nigel Bossom (+30) then saw off Bob Hayward (+70) 200-146 to seal the match.
Cowley Con B won 2-1 at Eynsham, thanks to victories from Brian Mabbutt and Ken Olive.
