JAMES Eve overcame difficult conditions to win the Ascott-under-Wychwood 10k.
The Headington Road Runner crossed the line in 40mins 34secs.
He finished 44 seconds ahead of nearest challenger, Oxford City’s Chris Prince, while Chris Colbeck 39 seconds further back in third.
Heavy rain meant parts of the course were underwater, with the weather even causing the 5k route to be diverted.
Beth Owens was the first woman to finish, recording a time of 49.37 to place 22nd overall, with Eynsham Road Runner Rebecca Evins following half a minute later.
Jade Hewlett, the third woman to cross the line, was one position lower as the 26th runner to cross the line.
Elsewhere, Alchester’s Richard Gould won the latest 12k race in the Stowe Night Series, crossing the line in an impressive 48.36.
It was a successful evening for the club, with Clare True the second-fastest woman and
fifth-best runner overall, stopping the clock at 53.01.
Gareth Petts was also forced to battle against the elements as he stormed to seventh place at the Snowdon Marathon.
The Witney Road Runner was one of 17 club members to take on the difficult conditions and crossed the line in 2hrs 51mins 48secs.
Ellie Dommett travelled to Dublin to run her second marathon in the space of a week – and posted a significantly better time than seven days earlier.
The Alchester member finished the Dublin Marathon in 4.36.32, 20 minutes faster than her time at the Abingdon Marathon the previous weekend.
Clubmate Marion Harris also put in an impressive performance in the Irish capital, setting a club record 5.24.03 in the LV60 category.
Abingdon’s James Clayton posted an impressive time at the Frankfurt Marathon, crossing the line in 3.12.49.
