Janice Ellacott came home as a world record holder from the European Masters Championships.

The Radley AC member took home the silver medal in the 400m W55 category in Venice and was fourth in the 200m.

The Wantage resident was then part of the successful Great Britain relay teams.

She won her second silver medal of the championships in the 4x100 team, before winning gold in the 4x400m in a world record time of 4mins 27.33secs.

The medals capped a superb return to fitness for Ellacott, who broke her foot in 2018.

Four other Oxfordshire athletes also triumphed.

Abingdon’s Noel Blatchford claimed a double gold in the 10km and 20km walks, as well as two team bronzes.

Judy Howard also starred with a team gold in the 20km walk and silver in the 10km event.

Radley’s Ana Ramos-Villaverde won the women’s Vet 45 2,000m steeplechase.

Oxford City’s Mike Barough ran the final leg of the men’s Vet 40 4x100m relay, bringing his team home in front.

Two City teammates were also in action, with Adam Richards-Gray (V40) and Stewart Thorp (V65) performing well but finishing out of the medals.

JAMES Bolton maintained his rich vein of form with victory at the Woodstock 12.

His winning time of 1hr 8mins 5secs was just under two minutes ahead of nearest rival Aaron Burgess, from Oxford AC.

Bolton, from Woodstock Harriers, was also victorious in last week’s Cotswold Classic 10.

Eynsham Roadrunner Kate Allred (LV45) was the first lady home, while teammates Jacky Pinnock (LV55) and Kate Williamson (LV65) also won their categories.

Headington’s Phil Kimber and Emily Georgiades won the male and female Vet 70 age groups respectively.
