JAMIE Perkin is urging Oxford to finish the job when they take on relegated Dinton, knowing victory will secure their promotion back to Division 1.
Having led the table for long periods of the Home Counties Premier League season, a poor end to the campaign saw them overtaken by Thame Town.
Oxford are now only 12 points ahead of third-placed Harefield and must avoid a third straight loss to make sure they finish in the top two.
Captain Perkin (pictured), whose side can still mathematically pip Thame, 18 points ahead of them, is urging his side to deliver.
He said: “It sounds simple, but the way we’ve been playing it’s not.
“We know what we need to do. We need to be right on our game and not take anything for granted.”
The match will be Shami Mendis’s last, with the 36-year-old spinner retiring after being with Oxford since 2005.
Perkin said: “He’s a fantastic cricketer, a fantastic person and the club will certainly be in a worse place without him.
“I can’t thank the bloke enough.”
Thame need three points against relegation-threatened Amersham to be crowned champions.
Michael Beard’s side have won three of their last four games, but expect a tough fixture.
The skipper said: “We’ve got to make sure we go in with the right mindset to get the job done.
“But Amersham have a lot to play for, so it will be tough.”
A Thame victory would ensure Oxford Downs, who sit just seven points above the relegation zone, avoid the drop.
The west Oxfordshire side face fellow strugglers Cookham Dean and captain George Sandbach is under no illusions about what is required.
He said: “It’s not great to be in this position.
“It’s a bit frustrating, we didn’t want to be part of the squeaky bum time.
“The message to the players will be to always stay positive.”
In Division 1, Banbury look to secure second place when they host Buckingham Town, while Aston Rowant host relegated Horspath.
