TWO players broke Oxfordshire records at the LTA Summer County Cup.
Jon Maskens and Ben Calnan won all 15 of their matches at East Gloucestershire Tennis Club in Cheltenham.
“We have gone through our records and believe this is the first time this has been achieved by any male Oxfordshire player,” said Mark Wilkinson, chair of Tennis Oxfordshire.
“To have two players break the record at one tournament is extraordinary. In fact, between them, the pair only dropped one set throughout all their matches.”
Oxon finished top of Group 6 to secure promotion.
They secured convincing wins against Devon, Shropshire, Cornwall, Gloucestershire and Staffordshire.
Meanwhile, some of the best juniors in Oxfordshire will battle it out at the county’s annual Junior Tennis Festival next week.
North Oxford LTC plays host to the event, which takes place from August 26-31, for children aged 8-18.
There will be more than 300 matches over seven age groups, with singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions.
Tennis Oxfordshire’s Simon Elliott said: “We are looking forward to some great tennis action in what should be a fun, competitive and very sociable week.
“We will be raising funds for the Dan Maskell Tennis Foundation and have a great finals day planned for 31 August.”
