Alexis Canter lost 6-2, 6-2 to Ryan Peniston at Aorangi Park
ALEXIS Canter’s hopes of reaching the Wimbledon qualifying rounds are over after a straight sets defeat at Aorangi Park today.
The 21-year-old, from Long Wittenham, lost 6-2, 6-2 to Ryan Peniston in the second round of the LTA Wild Card Play Offs for next month’s Championships.
Only two players progress from the 16-man draw into next week’s qualifying event at Roehampton.
Canter, who is ranked 557th on the ITF World Tennis Tour, had progressed to the second round with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Neil Pauffley on the practice courts of the All England Club yesterday.
But the Oxfordshire No 1 was unable to overcome Peniston.
