CAPTAIN Jonny Cater has stressed the importance of Oxfordshire not getting carried away by their strong early-season form.

Three wins from four Unicorns T20 games puts the side top of Group 2.

Oxon travel to High Wycombe on Sunday for two matches against Buckinghamshire and Cater is eager to keep his players focused on the job in hand.

He said: “To be three wins from four, we’re going into it high on confidence.

“Beating Bedfordshire in the 50-over competition has given the guys a real boost as well, but we’re expecting a tough challenge.

“We’re in a great position if we do well this weekend to potentially progress, but I’ve said to the lads we need to take it one game at a time.”

Oxon only make one enforced change from their victories over Shropshire at the beginning of the month.

Banbury all-rounder Olly Clarke is unavailable, so is replaced by Aston Rowant’s Leo Bethell.

Cater added: “The team we’ve selected are the players that have done the job for us in the last three of four games.

“Leo gives us a bit more firepower with the bat and it’s great to have him as an option with the ball.”
