OXFORD Cavaliers made a fine start to the season when beating Bath RL 50-12 away in the West of England League.
The visitors were always in control, scoring nine tries to record a comfortable opening-day win.
Despite only travelling with a squad of 15 due to unavailability, Cavaliers brought their A-game to Somerset.
Unforced errors proved Bath’s downfall and the visitors opened up a commanding 22-0 lead at half-time.
Freddie Myatt, Matt Fiander, captain Arron Lambourne and Lee Taylor crossed for Cavaliers, Louis Richards kicking three conversions.
Oxford continued in the same vein in the second half, with Myatt scoring his second try, before Jamie Cummings also went over.
Bath replied to finally get on the scoreboard, but Tommy FauFau, Josh Harwood and Samson Earle crossed to extend Cavaliers’ lead.
Richards converted four of their five second-half tries.
Bath completed the scoring, but it was only a consolation as Oxford had already done more than enough to secure the two points.
