GOALKEEPER Sam Warrell suffered a serious leg injury as Kidlington’s Evo-Stik South League clash at Cambridge City was abandoned on Saturday.
A second-half challenge from Joshua Oyinsan left the Greens captain, who underwent an operation yesterday, with two clean breaks to his lower right leg.
Cambridge led 3-0 at the time, with Oyinsan, Max Booth and Adam Watkins on the scoresheet.
Liam Talboys had been sent off for Kidlington following a late challenge on Watkins in the 65th minute.
North Leigh cut the gap to safety to five points despite having to settle for a draw in a dramatic six-goal thriller at home to fellow strugglers Welwyn Garden City.
The Millers twice led in a fixture which ended 3-3, while both sides were reduced to ten men late on.
The point was still enough to keep their hopes of avoiding the drop alive with four games to go.
Three goals were scored in the first quarter of an hour.
Eoin McKeown put Welwyn ahead, before Andy Gunn and Henry Landers made it 2-1 to the Millers.
Matthew Campbell-Mhlope equalised for the visitors on 54 minutes.
But the home side retook the lead 11 minutes later, with Landers scoring again, this time picking out the top corner with a free-kick.
However, it only took Welwyn 60 seconds to level as Campbell-Mhlope completed his brace.
The teams could not be separated as they both had a player sent off late on.
Dylan Ebengo was shown a second yellow card for a challenge on Noah Alabi on 82 minutes.
Harry Grant then saw red for the Millers following a high tackle, with joint-boss Darren James also sent off for his reaction to the dismissal.
Play-off hopefuls Didcot Town conceded late in a 1-1 draw at Kempston Rovers, but moved a point extra clear of the chasing pack.
The result saw the Railwaymen drop to fifth, but they have a three-point cushion after Berkhamsted and Sutton Coldfield Town suffered defeats.
Didcot took the lead on nine minutes as Luke Carnell headed home from a corner.
But their winless run was extended to four games when Shane Bush levelled in the first minute of injury time.
Dan West hit a hat-trick as Thame United beat Aylesbury 4-1 at home to boost their play-off hopes.
They are now one of three teams who trail Didcot by three points.
West put Thame in front early on, before Lynton Goss made it 2-0 at the break.
And West put the result beyond doubt in the second half with two more goals to complete his hat-trick.
Bruno Brito scored in the 85th minute for Aylesbury, but it was nothing more than a consolation.
Meanwhile, Banbury United made it back-to-back wins in Premier Division Central when beating promotion-chasing Kings Lynn Town 2-0 at home.
Greg Kaziboni and Amer Awadh scored as the Puritans pulled off a fine win over the league’s third-placed side.
They were indebted to goalkeeper Jack Harding, though.
He made two superb saves to keep out Adam Marriott and Michael Gash in a first-half the visitors dominated.
Banbury’s opener came against the run of play on 44 minutes when Kaziboni found the top corner with a fine curling effort.
Kings Lynn enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half, but could not find a way past Harding.
And the home side sealed victory with two minutes to go, Awadh chipping the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
