TRIBUTES have been paid to Bob Finch, who died last month.
The former all-rounder represented England at under 15 level.
Finch played for Pressed Steel and spent his last 12 seasons with Abingdon Vale, having also been selected at second XI level for Hampshire and Northamptonshire.
He coached Oxfordshire’s women’s side and the under 11 boys.
Oxon’s head coach Rupert Evans, who was a county teammate of Finch at under 15 and 19 level, wrote: “Bob was witty, good company at social gatherings playing his guitar and singing.
“He was a good guy who was without doubt one of the best cricketers ever produced by Oxfordshire.
“He will be sadly missed by his family, his friends and the local cricket community. RIP Bob.”
Chris Clements, Oxon’s chairman of senior cricket, added: “Bob was a fun-loving man, committed to cricket, his family and his faith.
“He will be missed by many. Peace be with you Bob.”
His funeral takes place at 11am at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Blackbird Leys, on April 9.
