KARL Robinson was blown away by the magnificent backing Oxford United received at Blackpool.

Despite a five-match winless run and their lowly status in Sky Bet League One, 818 U’s fans still made the long trip up the M6 to Bloomfield Road.

Their noise filled an otherwise sparsely-populated stadium and they were rewarded when Jordan Graham’s free-kick earned a 1-0 victory.

Having disappointed 311 travelling fans at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday, boss Robinson was delighted they could finally celebrate a first away league win.

He said: “We sold that corner out which most teams don’t do.

“For a side which had not won away from home all season, it’s incredible.

“Sometimes you take stock and it really does become an experience when you see how much people really care.

“We’re thankful for the fans who travelled to Accrington and were hit with a terrible result, to then come all the way back up to the north-west in the way they did – it’s just mind-blowing.”

United’s players saluted the fans at the final whistle and match-winner Graham was taken aback by the following.

He said: “It was fantastic, unreal support, considering where the team is and how we’ve done all season.

“It almost felt like there were more away than home fans.

“It was fantastic, considering it’s such a long way from home.”
