IVO Pekalski has been given an ultimatum – find a club in Sweden by next week or face the consequences.
Karl Robinson said last month the midfielder would be assessed after returning from a loan spell with Halmstad where he played regularly.
But the Oxford United boss claims Pekalski requested to go home for Christmas.
That appears to have closed the door on any chance he had of making an appearance for the U’s during his two-year contract, which expires this summer.
Robinson is keen to move the 28-year-old on and wants a quick deal.
He said: “Ivo has until January 8 to make a decision on what club he goes to.
“That’s when they go back training in Sweden.
“If he can’t pick a team then he’ll come back here and he’ll run every day.”
