WHEATLEY Park’s successful season continued when they became Oxfordshire Schools Under 14 champions.
In a tense final, which went to the final ball, they defeated Magdalen College School by three wickets at Christ Church College.
This triumph came a month after Park’s Under 13 side reached the semi-finals of the national Bunbury Cup.
MCS, who were put into bat, made 102-9 from their 20 overs, as Luke Heritage returned superb figures of 5-16.
Wheatley appeared to be cruising home when Dylan Driscoll (49) and Alfie Turner (29) put on 80 for the first wicket.
But tight bowling by James Coles and Abir Joshi, plus a series of run-outs, saw them stumble in sight of victory.
It went down to the last ball before Euan Barrett scored the winning single.
Wheatley will represent the county in the under 15 national competition in 2019.
