Justin Merritt wants his Oxford City side to be more ruthless, starting with the trip to Abingdon United for tonight's British Gas Business Southern League derby.
Although City won their Division 1 South & West opener 1-0 against Bracknell, the player-boss felt it should have been more emphatic.
"We could have been 3-0 up by half-time," said Merritt, who misses the game with a rib injury.
"We defended well, but we have to put teams away. If we continue like that, I won't be very happy."
Merritt added: "We lost the last encounter, so we'll be looking for an improvement on that."
City striker Jermaine McSporran faces his old teammates for the first time since moving from Abingdon in the summer.
Abingdon boss Andy Slater, whose side won their opener, added: "City will be one of the sides to beat.
"Jermaine will be trying to put one over on us, so that adds a bit of extra spice."
Abingdon will be without Anaclet Odhiambo (hamstring), Michael Alexis (suspended), while Julian McCalmon ('flu) is doubtful.
Didcot Town could give a debut to striker Michael Bartley away to Marlow.
Matty Jack (foot) and Jack King (ankle) miss out.
Wayne Blossom and Tommy Kinch return for Banbury United's Premier Division trip to Cheshunt.
Ben Weedon, signed on a month's loan from Oxford United, is added.
