Oxon paceman Ryan Newhook took 5-34 from 19.5 overs as Banbury held the upper hand over rivals Oxford before the rain ruined Saturday's Division 1 derby in the Home Counties Premier League at Roman Way.
Winning the toss, Banbury asked the home side to bat first on what proved a seamer-friendly wicket.
They lost their first wicket on 22 when Graham Charlesworth was bowled by Ed Smith for 14 and by lunch, three more wickets had gone down for 79.
Skipper Jason Harrison and Simon Hole took Oxford to 122-6 before Harrison was caught behind off Newhook.
The young paceman added three more scalps before the rain came.
The result leaves Oxford in second place, three points behind leaders Slough with three matches remaining.
