Kidlington's roller-coaster season continued with Saturday's six-wicket win over bottom club Kew as the weather once again had a hand in the Home Counties League Division 2 West promotion race.

While second-placed Gerrards Cross just managed to win at Beaconsfield before the rain arrived, leaders Tring Park failed to beat the weather, which means the top three are separated by just nine points with three games left.

Kidlington's crunch arrives with their penultimate game away to Tring, while a great deal could hinge on the outcome of Gerrards Cross v Tring on the last day of the season.

Kidlington had made a steady start as their hosts elected to bat, having won the toss.

At lunch, Kew were 108-5, but a bizarre run out seemed to trigger a collapse that saw the last five wickets fall to the pace of Josh Lalor for the addition of just two runs.

Lalor finished with figures of 5-24 from 13 overs.

Faced with such a small total and news that the weather was closing in, Kidlington stormed to victory inside 21 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Skipper Dave Taylor led the way with 45 from 23 balls, well supported by Richard Howitt and Andrew Buckingham.
