Oxfordshire Under 13s performed with great credit on their annual Taunton tour, and finished their season with a notable three-wicket victory against first-class county Kent.

The opening match saw Oxon take on Essex, who rattled up 207 all out from their 50 overs.

Fi Morris was the pick of the Oxon bowlers, taking 2-26 from ten overs.

In reply, Oxon scored 164-6 to secure a draw, with Chalie Beardall (34), Matty Taylor (25) and Lloyd Sabin (22) all performing well.

In their second game, Oxon were set 229 to win by Lancashire, despite 3-25 from Taylor.

Oxon batted doggedly in their reply, but fell to 145 all out as they failed to secure a draw with just two balls remaining.

On the third day, Oxon batted first against Devon and were in a strong position at 101-2, thanks to 64 from Sabin and 40 from Jamie Coles.

But after they fell, Oxon's innings fell away and they were bowled out for 164.

Devon cruised to victory, scoring 165-5 in 30.4 overs.

Oxon produced their best cricket of the season against Norfolk, but were denied victory by just 11 runs.

The match was reduced to 30 overs per side, but that didn't stop Norfolk posting a competitive 164 all out, Justin Lambden taking 3-25.

In reply, Oxon were 153-8, Coles hitting 64 including nine fours and a six.

But when he was out in the 29th over, Oxon failed to knock off the winning runs and had to settle for a draw.

Victory was finally secured on the final day in a low-scoring affair against Kent.

Putting Kent in on a damp wicket, Morris bowled superbly to take 4-15 as Kent were bowled out for 95.

In reply, Oxon also found life tough, but Beardall (20) and Coles (18) saw Oxon to 96-7.
