Oxford Harlequins captain Owen Gustafson has joined county rivals Chinnor in a bid to play in his preferred position of scrum half.
Gustafson, 23, lifted the Oxfordshire Cup as Quins skipper last season, but spent most of the campaign at fly half with Anthony Cope getting the nod at No 9.
The Welshman said: "I am definitely joining Chinnor.
"The training has been tough and hard so far, but I'm definitely enjoying myself."
Gustafson stressed he had left Quins on good terms, although it will be interesting to see what reaction he gets should he play against them in their first South West 1 clash on November 24.
He said: "It was really difficult to leave. I had a really good time there and made a lot of friends.
"I am only 23 and and I'm quite keen on playing at scrum half.
"The opportunities weren't there to do that at Oxford Harlequins last season.
"I spoke with Matt Maudsley and Tony Edney about leaving. There was nothing cloak and dagger about it."
Scrum half proved something of a problem position for Chinnor during their disastrous National 3 South debut last year.
With Morgan Thompson away at university, neither Danny Wiseman nor Gareth Duder stamped their authority on the position.
There is therefore a definite opening for Gustafson and it is also likely that former fly half James Cathcart will re-sign for Chinnor from Reading.
