Ian Hawtin has urged Oxfordshire to end their season ON a high in their final Western Division match against Devon at Exmouth starting on Sunday.

Oxfordshire captain Hawtin believes his team can beat last season's champions and push for second place in the table.

Having already reached the MCCA Trophy semi-finals, victory in Devon would cap a much-improved campaign for Oxon.

Hawtin said: "We have had a good season all round. It would be nice to finish on a high note with victory against Devon who are one of the strongest sides in the Western Division.

"This year we will have played against all the top sides in Cheshire, Shropshire and Devon.

"I think our success has come because, in the majority of cases, we've had our strongest team available.

"We have had the likes of Rob Williams for five games and he has been excellent.

"He has scored over 400 runs and is second in the standings.

"He just gets better and better, he is a first class player for us.

"Charlie Knightley showed his class with a century in the last match.

"It is always important that the top five get big scores."

Spinner Paul McMahon and batsman Richard Kaufman return to the squad, but Kidlington all-rounder Dave Taylor is unavailable.

Hawtin added: "We are travelling with a squad of 12. We are going to pick the 11 once we see the wicket."
